Yo-kai Watch 2

Nintendo, via Business Wire, have detailed their festivities they will be holding at San Diego Comic Con 2016. Hidden in there are some details on the bonuses players will get depending on how they purchase the upcoming Yo-kai Watch 2. Well, by bonuses it really means things you’ll miss out on if you don’t purchase the game a certain way. As revealed previously, Yo-kai Watch 2 will be released as two separate versions, Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, each with their own sets of exclusive Yo-kai. If you buy the physical release of either of these games, you’ll get a special Yo-kai Medal that unlocks a new Soultimate move for Jibanyan when its QR Code is scanned in-game. Both versions have an exclusive medal.

Things are different yet again if you buy the digital release – instead of a physical medal you’ll get to download an exclusive Yo-kai, either Robonyan F or Sailornyan depending on which version you bought. If this works the same way it did in Japan, then Bony Spirits will get Robonyan F and Fleshy Souls will get Sailornyan. It sounds like if you have a friend with the digital release of the games then you’ll be able to insert a physical copy of the game into their 3DS and get the bonus Yo-kai that way, but you obviously can’t duplicate a physical medal so if you get the game digitally you’ll unfortunately have to try your luck on eBay.

Robonyan F is the one that looks like a robot and Sailornyan is the one that looks like a sailor

There’ll be a few other Yo-kai Watch events if you’re lucky enough to be at the convention. At 3pm PT on July 22nd the voice actors of Jibanyan, Whisper, and Komasan will be doing a live Q&A, as well as live voice demos and a table read of a scene from the second season of the anime. There’ll also be opportunities for photos and autographs. Additionally, throughout the whole convention there’ll be Nintendo characters walking around who you can get photos with, and Jibanyan will be among them.

Yo-kai Watch 2 is currently only announced for release in the US on September 30th, but EB Games currently have both versions of the sequel listed for a “TBC 2016” release.
