Shovel Knight Invades Azure Striker Gunvolt 2

Your Shovel Knight amiibo will soon have special functionality in a different game, as Yacht Club Games have announced it will be compatible with Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 on 3DS. As part of a collaboration between Yacht Club and Inti Creates (likely due to Yacht Club publishing Gunvolt at retail in the US), Shovel Knight will be a special bonus boss in the upcoming Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. When you scan your Shovel Knight amiibo, Shovel Knight himself will appear as a boss in the game that they say will push your skill to the limit. Shovel Knight’s sprite was designed by veteran pixel artist Masaya Suzuki, who has been creating sprites for games since the early Breath of Fire games, and was the artist who designed the Mega Man Zero sprite. You can see a teaser trailer for this boss fight below.

This bonus will be available in both the digital version of the game, and the special Striker Pack that will include Gunvolt 1 and 2 on the same physical cart. This is currently only announced for release in the US on September 20th 2016, but it has actually been classified here in Australia so there’s every chance we may be getting it too.
