Splatoon 2’s Octolings Are Getting Their Own amiibo

Nintendo’s E3 presentation may be over but that doesn’t mean the announcements have to be as well. During the finals of the Splatoon World Championships today, Nintendo had two surprise Splatoon announcements – firstly, the Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2 will be releasing tomorrow afternoon (June 14th). This expansion adds in a heap of singleplayer content where you play as an Octoling called Agent 8, and some new gear for multiplayer. If you clear the new singleplayer levels in the expansion then you’ll be able to play as an Octoling in Splatoon 2’s multiplayer modes.

Since the Inklings have their own amiibo figures it’s only fair that the Octolings get some as well. So Nintendo also announced a new triple pack of amiibo that contains a male and female Octoling as well as an Octoling in its octopus form. This will release later this year sometime. We don’t know what they do just yet but presumably they’ll give you gear and let you take photos with the characters just like the other Splatoon amiibo.
