Feel the Power of Pokemon with the Official Z-Ring Toy

You might have seen in the latest Pokemon Sun & Moon trailer (it’s embedded below if you haven’t!) that Pokemon will be able to use a new type of move called Z Moves. There’s one of these powerful moves for each type, and your Pokemon can use one once per battle. Your in-game trainer channels the power of Z-Crystals in their Z-Ring to do a funky dance which empowers your Pokemon, allowing them to unleash one of these moves. From November 18th (the game’s release date!) you’ll be able to purchase a toy replica of this Z-Ring device that can be linked with the game for a more immersive experience.

Different Z-Crystal toys are available for each type and inserted into the Z-Ring toy. When the Z-Ring is linked with your 3DS and has the right Z-Crystal loaded into it, the toy will react in different ways to mimic what’s happening in the game. So if you’re using the Electric type Z-Move in the game and have a linked Z-Ring toy containing an Electric Z-Crystal, the toy will light up, vibrate, and make noises just like your trainer’s in the game. It’s nothing revolutionary but it’ll be a bit of fun every now and then. I expect someone will use one during the Pokemon VGC finals to get the crowd hyped. I’d like to think it’d be me, but my track record hasn’t been that great.

BUT BACK TO THE TOYS! The Z-Ring will come with three Z-Crystals (they appear to be the Fire, Grass and Water ones from the picture) and a 5cm Pikachu figurine. Z-Crystals for other types will be available for purchase separately in packs of three. Not all types have been listed yet so they’ll presumably be coming at a later date. Feel the thrill of battle as the POKÉMON Z-RING lights up, makes sounds, and vibrates!
The type based attack icons on each Z-CRYSTAL become visible as they light up when inserted into Z-RING. When synchronized in Nintendo 3DS/2DS Mode and with the Z-CRYSTAL element type matching the Z-MOVE type performed in the video game, the type based attack icon will appear automatically and players will be able to hear the dedicated type attack sound.
