More Info on the LEGO Batman Movie Content for LEGO Dimensions
Potential spoilers for The LEGO Batman Movie, read at your own discretion
The next Story Pack coming to LEGO Dimensions is the LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack, which includes Robin, Batgirl and the Batwing, and will let you play through the storyline of The LEGO Batman Movie. This pack will also be accompanied by a Fun Pack that includes a newly equipped Batman, with knight armour and a robot horse. It’s pretty awesome. Warner Bros. have revealed and teased some more info on both of these packs this week.
This Story Pack differs from the previous two as it includes two playable characters instead of just one. One of these characters is Batman’s sidekick Robin. The LEGO Dimensions Twitter has posted a short video which implies that Robin will have some sort of costume changing ability. The original reveal of this pack mentioned that Robin will be able to change into Nightwing, but this tweet implies that he could have a number of costumes to change into.

It’s possible that this particular costume is just part of a funny idle animation and doesn’t affect the gameplay, but one of the game’s producers at TT Games is hinting at some reveals to come.

Another tweet was posted earlier today that shows Batman himself within the Story Pack, firing a merch-gun that allows NPCs to express themselves as the Batman fans they might not want to admit they are. This is interesting, because in a follow-up tweet the Dimensions account confirmed that LEGO Movie Batman is definitely playable in the game, despite not being included in the pack as a minifigure. This could mean that the Batman included within the Starter Pack transforms into this version of Batman when playing the pack, or another character can unlock him the same way that Abby Yates’s figure unlocks the other three Ghostbusters, or Newt Scamander’s figure unlocks Jacob Kowalski.

Both the Story Pack and the Fun Pack for The LEGO Batman Movie come with vehicles that can be rebuilt into three different forms, as we’ve come to expect from Dimensions packs. These have been talked about previously. The Story Pack comes with the Batwing, which can be rebuilt into the Black Thunder and Bat-Tank. The Excalibur Batman Fun Pack comes with the Bionic Steed, which can be rebuilt into the Bat-Raptor and Ultrabat. While we weren’t able to acquire images of the Batwing’s rebuilds, we were able to score some images of the rebuilds of the Bionic Steed included in the Fun Pack.
The LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack and the Excalibur Batman Fun Pack launch on February 10th in the US, alongside the Knight Rider Fun Pack. Unfortunately for us Aussies though, the two Batman packs have been delayed until March 30th to tie in with the movie’s release. If you don’t want to wait that long, then we’ve put together a short guide on how to import them. The Knight Rider Fun Pack has not been delayed and is in fact launching on February 8th, a few days before the US release. So there’s that, at least.
