Starlink: Battle for Atlas - Star Fox Content on Nintendo Switch

During their E3 conference Ubisoft had a lot to show from their upcoming open world space-exploration Toys to Life game Starlink: Battle For Atlas, with some especially exciting news for Nintendo fans – in the Nintendo Switch version of the game, you’ll be able to play as Fox McCloud from Star Fox and pilot his iconic Arwing ship. You’ll be able to play as Fox throughout all of the game’s campaign, and there’ll also be some missions for Fox that are exclusive to the Switch version of the game.

“We are excited to give players a deeper look at Starlink: Battle for Atlas, the first all-new property from Ubisoft Toronto,” said Laurent Malville, Creative Director at Ubisoft Toronto. “Starlink is a project born from the passion of our collective team, and the opportunity to work directly with Nintendo to bring Star Fox to our universe is a dream come true. We believe the Atlas open star system is a perfect playground for Fox to explore and hope players will too.”

Fox and the Arwing will have their own sets of abilities just like the other pilots and ships in the game, and the Arwing naturally has a barrel roll ability. You can switch out different pilots and ships at will, and the ship toys are modular so you can switch out some of the individual weapons and parts to make plenty of different combinations. For those who don’t want the physical toys, the game’s content will be available for purchase digitally. Using the toys will unlock the digital versions of those pilots and ship parts allowing you to play co-operatively using the same ships without buying duplicate toys.

Fox will be included in the Nintendo Switch Starter Pack for Starlink, Here’s the details of the Starter Pack contents straight from Ubisoft’s site. Prices are in USD.

“The retail Nintendo Switch Starter Pack ($74.99) for Starlink comes with a physical Fox McCloud Pilot and Arwing, along with all of the items below:

  • 1 Starlink Video Game
  • 1 Zenith Starship
  • 1 Mason Rana Pilot
  • 1 Shredder Weapon
  • 1 Flamethrower Weapon
  • 1 Frost Barrage Weapon
  • 1 Controller Mount
  • 1 Poster

With the exception of the Star Fox-related items, the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the Starter Pack will come with the same items. The Zenith Starship will be included as a digital-only item in the Nintendo Switch Starter Pack. For those of you that choose to pre-order the Starter Pack on any platform, you’ll also get the Startail pilot pack, which lets you play as a Startail pilot with explosive shots.”

There will be other add-on packs available at the game’s launch. While exact details of these haven’t been confirmed, they will fit into the following categories of packs:

  • Starship Pack (including 1 starship, 1 pilot and 1 weapon): USD$24.99
  • Weapon Pack (including 2 weapons): USD$9.99
  • Pilot Pack (including 1 pilot): USD$7.99
  • Co-op Pack (including 1 mount): USD$19.99

Starlink: Battle for Atlas will release October 16th in the US, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll keep you updated when we find out Australian dates and prices.
