Pokken Arcade

There’s quite a number of Toys to Life releases this week, and some good discounts available to help you afford them all! On Wednesday the 16th LEGO Dimensions gets its fourth wave of content containing, among others, the Midway Arcade Level Pack and the Aquaman Fun Pack which will allow you to finally access every Adventure World and 100% complete every Story level. Then on Saturday Nintendo will be making a mint with the release of Pokken Tournament on Wii U as well as new releases in THREE different amiibo series! I hope you sold a kidney before the month began, because March is HUGE for Toys to Life releases this year.

New Releases

First up is the new wave of LEGO Dimensions content. The highlights of this wave are the Midway Arcade Level Pack and the Aquaman Fun Pack, but you’ll also be able to buy Stay Puft and Superman Fun Packs. Target and Big W are offering identical prices on these, with $38 Level Packs and $20 Fun Packs.

The Wii U has a big game release on Saturday, with Pokken Tournament launching that day. This is a unique fighting game that combines the gameplay of 2D and 3D fighters, and features various Pokemon as playable characters. First Print copies come with a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card that you can use to get early access to the character before you’ve unlocked them in-game. You can also use your various amiibo to unlock customisation items for your Trainer avatar. Big W’s price is currently the lowest, at $74. Target’s latest catalogue doesn’t have the game in it, so we’ll provide an update to tell you if they have it cheaper or not.

UPDATE: Target’s newest catalogue now has Pokken listed for $74, the same price as Big W, so you can choose to go to either. They’ve got a few other amiibo-compatible games on the same row so I included them in the shot because why not.

UPDATE: Ozgameshop have a deal ending at 11:59pm March 15th where they’ll give you 10% of a purchase back in credit to use on the site. They also have Pokken Tournament (with the Shadow Mewtwo card) for sale for $72.99, which comes with free shipping as it’s an order over $50. So if you don’t mind not getting the game on release day you could get the game a little cheaper, and also get a fair bit of credit back which is useful if you’re a regular customer of the site. This deal is now expired, but you can still get the game for $72.99 with free shipping.

Launching alongside Pokken on Saturday are various unrelated amiibo. The Smash line is getting the Ryu, Roy, and Famicom R.O.B. amiibo, while the Animal Crossing line is getting Rover, Summer Isabelle, Tommy & Timmy, and Kapp’n. Big W has all of these advertised for $14. Target’s latest catalogue doesn’t have amiibo in it, so we’ll provide an update to tell you if they have them cheaper or not.

In addition to the Animal Crossing figures, the third series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards is launching this Saturday as well. You can buy packs of these from most stores for around $6, but a more cost-effective method if you want all the cards is to buy a full box. From experience, these have given a friend and I full sets for the past two series, but another friend has reported that they were missing a couple of cards so a complete set might not be guaranteed. The cheapest place to get a sealed box is from Beat the Bomb, who sell them for $199.95, excluding the $7.95 shipping fee. You can also get the Collector’s Album to store the cards in for $23.95, which will raise the shipping fee to $9.95 if you get it with the box of cards.

Past Releases

There’s also some good deals in the catalogues for toys and games that aren’t releasing this week. Big W have some great savings on Disney Infinity content, with existing 3.0 figures going for only $11 each! I think that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen the 3.0 figures go for! They also have their exclusive LightFX figures (Anakin, Luke, and Darth Vader) for $14, which is how much they normally sell regular figures for. You might be able to convince Target to price match their exclusive LightFX figures since chances are they won’t know the difference between them all. There’s a misprint in this section of the catalogue that says playsets are only $14, but I doubt they’ll honour that. Can’t hurt to try though! The catalogue is also advertising the new Marvel content releasing next week, but we’ll have a separate price guide for that when more stores reveal their pricing.

Big W are also advertising 50% off all Skylanders Superchargers, so you might want to pick those up before they speed off the shelves. This will presumably apply to the amiibo/Skylander hybrids sold for the Wii U version, which you might want if you’re an amiibo collector.

Target don’t have much in the way of bargains for past releases, but they do have Twilight Princess HD for $84 if you haven’t picked it up yet

And both stores’ pricing for the new LEGO Dimensions content that we’ve listed above will apply to existing packs, if there’s any you’re planning to pick up. Big W are also advertising the Starter Sets if you’ve yet to jump on board, with offering them for $119, which is a pretty good price.
