LEGO Dimensions Phase 2 Officially Revealed

It’s finally here! The E3 trailer for LEGO Dimensions has landed, showing off some of the new characters and worlds being introduced in the game’s second series of content. In addition to this, a press release supplied by Warner Bros. confirms even more franchises that will be added to the game. I know you’re here for the trailer, so let’s get that out of the way:

Awesome, right? The second series of content will be bringing 16 new franchises into the game, with the first wave launching on September 27th. This wave will contain:

  • Ghostbusters Story Pack
  • Adventure Time Level Pack
  • Mission: Impossible Level Pack
  • Harry Potter Team Pack
  • Adventure Time Team Pack
  • The A-Team Fun Pack

A gallery of these packs is embedded below.

Afterwards, there’s still a heap of franchises that will appear in the game, spread over three additional waves of releases:

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
  • The LEGO® Batman Movie
  • The Goonies
  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Teen Titans Go!
  • LEGO® City Undercover
  • Knight Rider
  • The Powerpuff Girls
  • Gremlins
  • Beetlejuice
  • E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

All of these packs will be compatible with the currently available starter set, so you can play all the existing levels and Adventure Worlds with the new characters, and bring all the existing characters into the brand new worlds. Speaking of new worlds, the new waves of characters won’t just unlock the free-roam Adventure Worlds, they’ll also unlock brand new Battle Arenas. Each of these are themed after a respective brand, and feature four different gameplay modes. Each arena sports its own traps, special powers and interactive environments which you can use to your advantage in battle with up to three of your friends.

Details were also provided on Story Packs, a new type of expansion pack for the game that will be available for purchase. These take the concept of Level Packs further, by adding multiple themed levels into the game, as well as providing you with the bricks to build themed redesigns for the Toy Pad your figures are placed on. The first of these is the Ghostbusters Story Pack, which follows the plot of the upcoming reboot. This pack unlocks “Rip,” a new Toy Pad mode allowing players to tear open an alternate universe. In this mirror world, players have the ability to solve puzzles and affect objects and other items in the primary universe. Later in the year a Story Pack based on the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released.

PHEW! That’s a lot of news! Which franchises’ inclusions are you most excited about? I personally lost it when LEGO Sloth came on screen.
