Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World - Double Yarn Yoshi Mechanic Changes

One noticeable differences in Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World for 3DS compared to Woolly World on Wii U is within the Double Yoshi feature from the Yarn amibo range. By tapping a Yarn Yoshi amiibo in the Wii U version, you would summon a ‘Double Yoshi’ to assist you. As you can see in the video below, in the Wii U version, the amiibo Yoshi will control identically to you. When you jump, so will the amiibo. When you walk, so will the amiibo (this does allow ‘desync’ between the two causing the amiibo to get stuck occasionally).

In Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, the cloned Yoshi will act on a slight delay from you, and also can’t turn your player into an egg. Also different is that the amiibo Yoshi doesn’t have health anymore. In the Wii U version the amiibo, like the player, has 20 hearts meaning that collected hearts will be divided between the two. Since the amiibo Yoshi has no health anymore you can happily use the amiibo Yoshi as an egg to throw off an edge or into enemies. A drawback however, is that unlike the Wii U version you can’t turn a full-health Yarn Yoshi into an egg and carry them to the goal for an easy 100% rating.

The lack of co-op in the 3DS version also changes this mechanic. Since the Wii U version had 2 player co-op, your amiibo could act independently to the player Yoshi. As seen in the video, any attempts to throw the amiibo up to another area will cause them to teleport back to you.

Like the Wii U version, all 3 Yarn Yoshi & Mega Yarn Yoshi will work for this feature.

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World will be released on Feb 4th 2017 along with the new Yarn Poochy amiibo (which we’ll show off as soon as we can!).
