UPDATE: Nintendo has confirmed to us the RRP of each of the new Zelda amiibo (the prices EB have are correct)

  • Link (Rider) – AU$21.95
  • Link (Archer) – U$21.95
  • Bokoblin – AU$21.95
  • Zelda – AU$21.95
  • Guardian – AU$29.95

Original Story:

You might’ve seen Americans freaking out about the prices of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo being more expensive than the usual amiibo prices over there and wondered whether the same thing would happen here. There wasn’t any mention of prices in the Australian version of the Breath of the Wild press release from the Switch event, but today EB Games have updated their site which is now listing these amiibo for $21.95 (and $29.95 for the big Guardian one), which is quite a jump from the usual $17.95. We’ve asked Nintendo whether this is the final price, but until then Vooks has confirmed that other retailers will be listing them for the same price (but can still discount them in sales, of course).

Hopefully that’s not going to be a permanent price hike for all amiibo from here on out, because with the number of amiibo figures that are released that’ll get expensive fast, and their functionalities are so inconsistent from figure to figure. And I mean… $22 for this little guy?
