See What the Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary amiibo Do in Breath of the Wild

The upcoming Zelda game for Wii U and the Nintendo Switch, Breath of the Wild, will be compatible with various different amiibo. We know that the game will be receiving its own line of amiibo, and that special functionality will be unlocked by the Wolf Link amiibo. The game will also support the new set of amiibo celebrating the series’ 30th Anniversary that launched over the weekend, and we now have details on how this will work thanks to Nintendo America’s tumblr.
Tapping any of these four new amiibo will call down an array of items from the sky, and if you’re lucky then a treasure chest may appear as well! Each character has a different kind of item that could appear when they’re tapped.
8-bit Link will give you a random number of barrels you can have some fun using them with the game’s physics engine, or break them open to see what’s inside. Maybe some rupees?
Tap Ocarina of Time Link if you want some meat. That could be worded better. His amiibo will provide you with a random number of meat items that you can cook to give yourself different buffs depending on the recipe you use.
Toon Link will make it rain down fish like some kind of biblical plague. Thanks for all the fish.
And finally, Toon Zelda will provide you with a selection of plants. These can be used on their own or combined with other items to provide different effects.
Presumably there’ll be a once-a-day limit on these effects so you can’t cheat your way through the game – this is meant to be a survival game after all! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch sometime in 2017 for the Wii U and Switch.
