Pokken Tournament DX

Earlier this month Nintendo revealed that Pokken Tournament will be re-released as Pokken Tournament DX for the Nintendo Switch. This enhanced port features all the content from the original game as well as new playable characters Croagunk, Scizor, Empoleon, Darkrai and Decidueye. There will also be new Support Pokemon and modes, such as a new Team Battle mode that pits parties of Pokemon against each other.

It turns out that DX will support amiibo just like the original game, but this confirmation was hidden in tiny text on the game’s Japanese site. Scanning amiibo in Pokken Tournament unlocked random cosmetic items to customise your trainer with. There was also a Shadow Mewtwo card included in some copies that let you play as the character before you’d unlocked them. It’s presumed that both of these functions will carry over into DX.

Pokken Tournament DX releases September 22nd in Australia for Nintendo Switch.
