Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Overnight Nintendo showed off some extended gameplay of the new Legend of Zelda game for the first time. The game is subtitled Breath of the Wilds, and will release on Wii U and NX next year. It was confirmed that the game would be getting its own amiibo figures, and while it’s currently unknown what they’ll do in-game, they look AMAZING. There’ll be three figures available – Rider (a figure of Link riding his horse), Archer (a figure of Link firing an arrow mid-air like in the game’s initial reveal), and Guardian (the boss-like creature Link fought in that same trailer). And if they weren’t cool enough already, the Guardian amiibo will also have posable… arms? Tentacles? At any rate, it’s the first amiibo that has a posable element to it. You can view a gallery of all the officially released screenshots of these figures below.

Additionally, we got details on how the Wolf Link amiibo from Twilight Princess HD will function in Breath of the Wilds. By tapping this amiibo in the game, Wolf Link will appear to assist you on your journey. He can fight enemies, hunt for food, and look absolutely adorable. The amount of health he has in Breath of the Wilds will be the same as the number of hearts you had left when completing the Cave of Shadows dungeon in Twilight Princess HD. Once his health has run out, he’ll disappear and you’ll need to wait until the next real-life day to summon him back with the amiibo.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the accompanying amiibo will launch some time in 2017.
