Details on Metroid Prime: Federation Force’s amiibo Usage

After the game’s noticeable absence at E3, Nintendo have tweeted out details on how Metroid Prime: Federation Force will utilise amiibo. As you might already be aware, Federation Force is split into two parts – the 1-4 player campaign with a storyline, and a soccer-like side mode called Blast Ball. amiibo will function differently between the two.
In the campaign, you can tap either of the Samus amiibo to power your character’s suit up with an upgrade. It will also take on a different appearance depending on which Samus was used. So Samus is kind of in the game, then.

In the Blast Ball mode, more amiibo will be compatible although we don’t have a full list of amiibo that can be used. When an amiibo is tapped in this mode, your character’s mech will get a new skin themed after the character whose amiibo you tapped.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force launches sometime later this year on 3DS, but so far it’s been copping quite a lot of flak
