Dianyan and the Jewelnyans Are Coming to Yo-kai Watch Via Comic Con-Exclusive Medals
Good news and bad news, Yo-kai Watch fans! For those of you who were eagerly awaiting the last few Yo-kai you needed to fill your Medallium in the game, the QR Codes you need to unlock them will be released next month. From reports of players with the Japanese game, these codes won’t be single-use so once anyone posts them online you’ll be set. Whether this is also the case for the Western versions of the game is yet to be seen, but it’s unlikely they’d make a drastic change like that. These five secret Yo-kai are the Jewelnyans – special variants of Jibanyan themed after different gems. By scanning in their respective medal, you’ll be able to add Dianyan, Sapphinyan, Topanyan, Rubinyan and Emenyan to your game in order to battle and recruit them.
So, the bad news. These codes are attached to medals that are included in a limited edition set, along with a Dianyan figure. This will be available for purchase at San Diego Comic-Con next month for USD$29.99, and given the history of similar convention-exclusive toys they’ll be sold out and put on eBay for a small fortune within nanoseconds. Some time after the convention is over, there’ll be a small quantity available for purchase on Hasbro’s site, which are likely to go equally as quickly. The plus side is that Hasbro’s site does ship overseas, so hopefully they’ll go live at a decent hour and not be limited to those within the US. We’ll let you know if we hear anything about a date for the sale.
The Jewelnyan medals are like the other Yo-kai medals currently available, and so can be used in the toy Yo-kai Watch that was released earlier this year. They also have QR codes which can be used in the 3DS game and various spin-off apps. In the 3DS game they can be scanned once by everybody, meaning that if someone posts their code online you’ll still be able to get the characters. In the mobile apps, Yo-kai Land and Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble, their codes can be redeemed a single-time for bonuses, and will be linked to the scanner’s account so other players won’t be able to scan them as well.
