BYE-BYE BOXBOY! – amiibo Unlocks and Functions Guide
Qbby has a lot of different costumes that he can wear in BYE-BYE BOXBOY! and if you’ve got some amiibo then you can unlock some more, as well as a few other neat bonuses. Access the amiibo functionality by going to the in-game shop and selecting the amiibo option, then tapping an amiibo. Below is a look at which amiibo will unlock what in the game.
Kirby
The Kirby amiibo (whether that’s from the Smash Bros. or Kirby series of figures) will unlock a Kirby costume for Qbby to wear. It has no special effects but will change his boxes to look like Star Blocks from the Kirby series.
King DeDeDe (Smash Bros. or Kirby series)
The King DeDeDe amiibo (whether that’s from the Smash Bros. or Kirby series of figures) will unlock a King DeDeDe costume for Qbby to wear. It has no special effects but will change his boxes to look like Star Blocks from the Kirby series.
Meta-Knight (Smash Bros. or Kirby series)
The Meta-Knight amiibo (whether that’s from the Smash Bros. or Kirby series of figures) will unlock a Meta-Knight costume for Qbby to wear. It has no special effects but will change his boxes to look like Star Blocks from the Kirby series.
Waddle Dee (Smash Bros. or Kirby series)
The Waddle Dee amiibo will unlock a Waddle Dee costume for Qbby to wear. It has no special effects but will change his boxes to look like Star Blocks from the Kirby series.
Qbby (BOXBOY series)
Scanning this amiibo unlocks the biggest bonuses of all. You’ll unlock visual filters as well as a Qucy costume.
You can apply the filters by going to the in-game shop and tapping the filter icon next to the amiibo option.
The Qucy costume allows you to place as many blocks and use as many hints as you like in a level without it affecting the crown collectibles, making these a lot easier to collect. You can also unlock the filters and Qucy costume by purchasing the previous two BOXBOY games and having their save data present on your console, or by collecting every crown within BYE-BYE BOXBOY!.
