LEGO Dimensions Bargain Alert

UPDATE 2: Marceline has been delayed until December…

UPDATE: It turns out Big W have not gotten any stock of their exclusive Marceline pack, which is fantastic. Trying to get some answers as to what’s going on now

Also, it’s been confirmed that the LEGO Store is selling the Wave 7 packs for the massively discounted prices they were showing earlier in the week. Additionally, if you spend over $45 in a single order you’ll get a free exclusive LEGO Christmas ornament, so that’s something to consider.

Original Story:

New LEGO Dimensions packs are launching this week! Time really flies, huh? This Friday, November 18th, will see the release of LEGO Dimensions Wave 7, the second wave of packs in Year 2 of the game. Target has the same prices for their packs as last time, and I’m 90% sure Big W does too, but their prices were in an older catalogue that’s no longer on their site anymore and, oddly, their catalogue for this week only advertises their exclusive Fun Pack.

UPDATE: We got an image of this older catalogue thanks to Jessica in the LEGO Dimensions Club Australia Facebook group. Their prices are actually cheaper than last wave! The prices mentioned in the article have now been updatd.

Story Packs

The centerpiece of this wave is another Story Pack, this time following the plot of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; a Harry Potter spinoff that hits cinemas this Thursday. The pack contains the protagonist Newt Scamander, a Niffler, and a portal rebuild themed after the Magical Congress of the United States. Target and Big W are both selling this for $64.

The online LEGO Store has a much lower price advertised (you need to factor in shipping though) but you can’t order unreleased packs from them. Here’s a link in case that price sticks around when the packs are out:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack – $15.99 + shipping

Level Packs

There’s only one level pack in this wave, but it’s a doozy – Sonic the Hedgehog! This is a pack I know plenty of people are excited for, going as far as buying the game just to play it. This pack lets you play through a Sonic themed level and open world, and gives you toys of Sonic himself, the Sonic Speedster and Tails’ plane the Tornado. Big W have this selling for $38, while Target are a teensy bit more expensive at $39.

Team Packs

There’s one Team Pack in this wave and it’s one of the packs I’m personally most excited for – Gremlins! This pack doesn’t open a level, but it will grant you access to the Gremlins Adventure World. The toys included are Gizmo and his RC car, the evil Stripe, and the Flash ‘N Finish Camera. The cheapest price is at Big W, who are selling it for $30, while Target are a bit more expensive at $32.

Fun Packs

Last but definitely not least are the Fun Packs of this wave. You can get the E.T. and Tina Goldstein Fun Packs for $20 at both Target and Big W. However, Big W have an additional Fun Pack that’s a retailer exclusive – Marceline the Vampire Queen, from Adventure Time. So if you want all the packs then you’ll definitely have to head to Big W for Marceline. Overseas she’s only a timed retailer exclusive, but we don’t have any details about whether it’s a timed deal here as of yet. Thanks Aaron for the image!

Tina Goldstein Fun Pack – $6.99 + shipping

E.T. Fun Pack – $6.99 + shipping

So there you have it! With the exclusive figure and cheaper prices there’s no reason to go to Target over Big W for this wave. Which packs from this crop take your fancy? It’s worth noting what’s going on with the next wave of packs while I have your attention. In the US there’s three packs launching on the same day, nice and easy – the Knight Rider Fun Pack, the LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack, and the Excalibur Batman Fun Pack. Over here it’s been totally botched. The Knight Rider pack will launch February 8th 2017 (two days before the US) but the two LEGO Batman packs have been delayed until March to tie in with the movie’s release date (that was also delayed here). If you don’t want to wait until March 30th to grab these packs then we’ve put together a guide on how to import the LEGO Batman Movie packs to Australia.
