Sonic 25th Anniversary

As part of the Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary celebrations at San Diego Comic Con, we got our first look at the Sonic the Hedgehog Level Pack. The physical pack is on display for attendees to see, and photos have been posted online courtesy of SEGABits. This Level Pack will include a Sonic minifigure as well as models of the Sonic Speedstar (the car Sonic uses in the Sonic All-Stars Racing games) and the Tornado (Tails’ signature plane). On the back of the box you can also see the different forms you’ll be able to rebuild these vehicles into and a sneak peek of the Adventure World. Adventure Worlds are open world areas full of quests and puzzles, and this one seems to combine various levels from the series into one big mash-up.

Additionally, during the big Anniversary livestream we got a reveal trailer for the Sonic Level Pack that mostly shows off Sonic in existing levels, but also gives us a look at how Sonic and the bundled level will play. Sonic is shown running (and Spin Dash-ing!) through the Green Hill Zone, which appears to be the focus of the pack. It looks like the level will contain a mix of side-scrolling and open segments, and will play more like a Sonic game than a traditional LEGO game. You can view the trailer below.

The Sonic the Hedgehog Level Pack will release “Fall 2016” in the US, which points towards it being contained in the November wave of content. We’ve assembled a gallery of screenshots from the trailer that you can view below.
