Fire Emblem Echoes - Shadows of Valentia for 3DS

UPDATE: Australian release info for the Limited Edition has been added

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia, the 3DS remake of the Japan-only title Fire Emblem Gaiden, is getting its own amiibo of its two protagonists, Alm and Celica. Nintendo have now released info on what these will actually do in the game. Each of the two amiibo will unlock their own exclusive dungeons, with items to collect and bosses to fight. You’ll also be able to save Alm and Celica’s stats to their respective amiibo, which will allow you to summon them as phantoms during battles. By sacrificing a portion of your health, a computer-controlled ‘illusory hero’ with your amiibo’s stats will fight alongside you for a single turn.

And they’re not the only characters you can summon! By using any of the Smash Bros. series amiibo of Fire Emblem characters (and yes, that includes the upcoming Corrin amiibo!) you can bring in illusory heroes of those characters in the same way. Other amiibo can also be used for summons, but rather than bringing in unique units they’ll bring in different monsters that will fight alongside you for a single turn – no Captain Falcon or Pikachu team-ups, I’m afraid.

Also revealed was a Limited Edition bundle for the game, which has now been confirmed for an Australian release. This bundle includes a hardcover art book, a Sound Selection CD, a set of Alm, Celica and Marth pins, and a reversible cover sheet based on the box art of the original Fire Emblem Gaiden. It’s exclusive to EB Games though, so look forward to paying the full RRP of $99.95.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia releases on May 20th in Australia. The Alm and Celica amiibo also release on that day (available separately, not in the double-pack that America has), with Australian pricing yet to be confirmed.
