UPDATE (18/10/17) – Nintendo have released a trailer that details the Minigame Island mode and shows these amiibo features in action. It has been inserted into the article

Mario Party The Top 100 is an upcoming game for the 3DS that collates the top 100 minigames from the entire series. How scientific the judging process was is yet to be determined. While it wasn’t formally announced to have amiibo support in its reveal, its boxart had the amiibo logo on it. Nintendo’s site has now updated with some details on what these amiibo functions will involve.

The game will feature a mode called Minigame Island which allows you to unlock different sets of minigames and compete in them against friends, and you can use compatible amiibo to get bonuses in it. When you stand on a circle marked with the amiibo symbol you can tap one to get 10 coins. If the amiibo circle is occupied by a Goomba or Koopa Troopa, tap their respective amiibo figures to get 50 coins instead. You can also tap compatible amiibo to restore a life if you run out. Each amiibo can only be used once per day. The Goomba and Koopa Troopa amiibo can each be used on the minigame selection screen to get instant access to a different minigame pack.

Mario Party The Top 100 launches January 30th in Australia for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
